Fantino Winery is owned by brothers Alessandro and Gian Natale
Fantino, the former of which spent ten years as winemaker for the
legendary Bartolo Mascarello. A consistently excellent producer of
Barolo, Fantino is the only estate located in the center of the old city
at Monforte d’Alba. Its cellar, parts of which date as far back as the
1600s, is worth visiting for its aesthetic qualities alone. The Fantinos'
vineyards are limited to under 10 hectares contained within the Vigna
dei Dardi site, imparting an unusually clear rendition of specific vintages.
