Merode, Prince Florent de

Of the nearly twelve hectares of vineyards owned by the Merode family, these include significant parcels in four of the best red wine grand cru climats on the hill of Corton. The traditional winemaking and vineyard management practiced by the domaine previously have been slightly modified under the regime of Didier Dubois, as he and the Prince search for greater depth, richness and longevity in the wines. The emphasis is on classic expressions of terroir at Prince Florent de Merode, so new oak is kept to around ten percent for the village wines and premier crus, and no more than one third new wood is used for any of the grand cru Cortons.
