Weingut Josh. Bapt. Sch„fer, since 1997 in the hands of young talented Sebastian Sch„fer, is one of these previously little-known estates that first stepped into the limelight with its victory in the competition for the best Riesling of ?91 organized by the magazine Feinschmecker. Each successive vintage was better than the one that preceded it. From liter bottling up to trockenbeerenauslese, the wines are of astonishing quality, generally characterized by full-bodied depth paired with tangy acidity.
