Calon Segur

This 3rd growth is located in the St. Estephe appellation of Bordeaux and is one of the oldest and most northern classified growths in the Medoc. The 75 hectares of vines surround the Chateau which are plantd to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 15% Cabernet Franc. The sytle is full and spicy. Quality began to slip after WWII with the addition of too much Merlot. This has since been corrected and in good vintages, Calon Segur often presents one of the best values in the Medoc.
