Under the tutelage of his late uncle, Henri Jayer, Emmanuel Rouget set up his own winemaking cellars in Flagey in 1985. He acquired land from his brother Lucien, around Vosne Romanee, on a share-cropping basis. Within a decade, Emmanuel expanding his domaine, farming some of Henri Jayer's vineyards. He has remained faithful to the techniques employed by his late uncle - namely an insistence on ultra low yields, a pre-fermentation cold maceration and the maturation of the wines in 100% new oak barrels.
