Eugenio Campolmi purchased his first vineyards in Bolgheri in 1975. He decided to set himself apart from his neighbors in Bolgheri by crafting single-varietal wines. Soon Le Macchiole joined Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Guado al Tasso as one of the most prestigious estates in Bolgheri.
