Savoie

Savoie is a large alpine region, nearly the size of Bordeaux, located on the French and Swiss border.  Made of a dramatic countryside, Savoie is an extremely popular tourist spot especially for skiers, which often take precedent over vines.  What wine is produced, is so popular in fact that only a small portion ever leaves the region.  Savoie wines tend to be of the white genre from indigenous grapes Jacquere, Altesse and Mondeuse. Bugey is the most particular AOC with Vin de Savoie acting as the catch-all classification.
